A Message from the Principal

Welcome Back! I hope your summer was restful, exciting and everything you wanted it to be.  It is always fun to listen to the children talk about their summer and the great times they had.  We look forward to welcoming you back to school and seeing all of our students and their families.  We hope that you will feel a part of our school family and come and participate in all we have to offer and take an active part in your child’s education. We are excited to see you and collaborate together in your child’s educational experience.

I hope you will join us on the first day of school for our PTA Coffee on the Green.  It is a great time to meet new people and connect with people you may not have seen in a while. Please get to know PTA and Eagles Booster Fund.  They have a lot to offer and being involved at school is great for your child and also a lot of fun!

We look forward to beginning the year with all our technology in place all raised courtesy of our Academic Boosters Eagles Fund. Our students will engage in 21st Century learning in the computer lab and the classroom. Thanks to Boosters we are anxiously awaiting a new sound system in the MPR along with new computers in our lab.

Neil Armstrong is committed to children and their academic and social wellbeing.  We hold high expectations in our teaching and learning, placing high importance on student engagement though creativity, curiosity, communication, critical thinking and collaboration. Character development plays a key role in our student’s education.  We focus on respect, empathy, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness and citizenship.

Our common core curriculum is an important piece of our educational shift working on our new reading units of study, science curriculum and much more.

We believe that together we can create a wonderful experience for our children built on rigor, relevance and relationships. We hold the philosophy that Neil Armstrong students are all our students, not just those in our own classrooms. All children when given a chance can be in charge of their own learning with the support of staff and family.  We hope to see involved parents as we have in the past. We know it truly makes a difference! We are very excited to see you back!

News and Announcements

Missing the Last Ten School Days for 2015-16

Students should be in attendance through the last day of school, June 9, 2016, to maintain their enrollment status at their current school. Independent study contracts will not be issued the last 10 days of school. All independent study contract work must be finished and submitted by May 25, 2016 in order for work to be graded and attendance to be recorded. If your child must leave school earlier than 10 school days (May 25) before the last day of school and does not return before the end of the school year, your child may be subject to the following consequences: incomplete or lowered final grades, review by school/district attendance review board, and/or unenrolled and placed on the waitlist upon re-enrollment, if space is not available. If your student is unenrolled, there may not be a space at the current school for your student to return in the fall. In this case your student may have to be diverted to another elementary school in the district. Middle and High school students may not be able to access their elective choices if they reenroll upon their return. Please note: in accordance with California Education Codes 48205 and 48260, and District Board Policy and Administrative Regulation 5113, any student who misses 3 or more school days without a valid excuse, as defined by AR 5113, shall be reported as truant to the District attendance supervisor.

Missing the First Three Days of School 2016-17

As you plan your summer vacation, be aware that school begins on Monday, August 15, 2016. Because our district is growing, schools are very full and many continue to have wait lists. As in the past, if your child does not attend the first three days of school, your student will be dropped from the school on August 18, 2016. In that event, you will need to re-enroll your student. A space at your resident school will not be held for your child. If there is not space at your resident school when you return, your child will be placed at the closest school based on space availability.
